Amos Kwizera, the Country Director at CIYOTA-DRC, holds a Master's degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences-Po, Paris. His passion lies in advocating for the rights of refugees, migrants, and individuals living with disabilities. Having once been a refugee for over 10 years, Amos tragically lost his sister due to inadequate access to healthcare in the Kyangwali refugee camp, an experience that has deeply shaped his commitment to humanitarian causes. During his master’s studies, he interned at the United Nations in the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General on Violence Against Children (UNSRSG-VAC), focusing on child protection in Africa. There, he worked on various critical issues, including violence against children in schools, unaccompanied minors, early marriage, and female genital mutilation.
Amos is a dedicated community and servant leader, as reflected in his leadership roles throughout his academic journey. During his undergraduate studies, he served as the Mastercard Foundation Scholars’ Representative for a year, leading various student activities and bridging the connection between scholars, the university, and the foundation. He continued his advocacy for refugees through his work with CIYOTA, supporting students, parents, and local leaders. Amos is well-versed in child protection, international humanitarian law, advocacy, and project management. His core belief is rooted in the principles of “Hope, dignity, and justice for all.”
