Dr. Clare

Dr. Clare Kyomuhendo

Dr. Clare Kyomuhendo, a fellow of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is an esteemed academic and researcher affiliated with Bugema University. She holds a PhD in Population Studies from the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) at the University of Ghana. She also earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Social Work from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration from Bugema University, Kampala, Uganda.


Dr Kyomuhendo’s research interests span ageing, gender, the intersectionality of vulnerabilities, mental health, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and the impact of HIV/AIDS, particularly on vulnerable populations. She is also keenly interested in disease distribution and the health needs of diverse communities.


She has presented her research at both local and international conferences, focusing on mental health, HIV/AIDS, and ageing. Her work has been published in reputable peer-reviewed journals, including AIDS Care, the Journal of Business Strategy and Development, Heliyon, and the African Journal of Sustainable Development. She also serves as a mentor with the Africa Graduate Mentorship and Coaching Programme (AGMCP), a one-year fellowship dedicated to guiding graduate students (Master’s and PhD) aged 20–30 and postdoctoral candidates under 40


Beyond academia, Dr Kyomuhendo is deeply committed to supporting NGOs and community-based organisations serving underprivileged youths. She believes in the power of Education as a tool that holistically changes personal lives and uplifts the community.
