Ntakamaze is an educator with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester and 17 years of experience in emergency education, particularly for refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). He has been the Executive Director of CIYOTA since 2018, where he has significantly raised the organisation's profile and improved operational systems. A fellow at the Anzisha Education Accelerator Program and a former research assistant at the University of Oxford, Ntakamaze is also a recipient of the Ockenden and Gene Dewey Refugee Awards.
He is a passionate advocate for the right to quality education for refugee children and youth, demonstrated by his efforts to establish a secondary school in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, which serves over 600 refugee and host community students annually. In addition, he promotes STEM programs to equip young people with the skills necessary for self-reliance and future success. Ntakamaze is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Community Development and holds a Diploma in Leadership from the African Leadership Academy in South Africa.
